While there are many beneficial uses for technology, recent studies have shown some concerning trends. A four-year-long study of almost 900 young children has shown that handheld screens, in particular, may present a risk to children’s speech development. For each 30 minute increase in handheld screen use per day, the risk of the child having expressive speech delays increased by 49%.
